Electric Cargo Tricycle Pre-Shipment Inspection Checklist

A practical checklist for importers to verify vehicle configuration, workmanship, electrical systems, function, packing and documents before shipment.

FUYINGMEN · JINAN, CHINA · Updated October 2026
01

Freeze the approved specification before inspection

An inspector needs a clear baseline. Prepare the purchase order, approved model and revision, vehicle and cargo-body dimensions, battery and motor configuration, charger, tyres, brakes, lights, accessories, colour, labels, packing method and any accepted sample records. Mark every requirement as a measurable check, a document check or a visual comparison.

  • Approved model and configuration sheet
  • Quantity and model mix
  • Destination voltage, plug and labels
  • Packing and spare-parts scope
02

Confirm identity, quantity and traceability

Match the factory, order number, model names and finished quantity to the commercial documents. Record vehicle and battery identifiers when available, and take clear photos that connect inspected units to the inspection report. Separate finished units from incomplete, rejected or unrelated stock.

03

Inspect frame, body and running components

Check visible welds, frame and cargo-body alignment, fasteners, hinges, latches, paint coverage, corrosion protection, tyres, wheels, suspension, steering and brake controls against the approved sample or specification. For tipping bodies, inspect mounting points, clearances and controlled lifting and lowering without standing beneath a raised body.

  • No visible transport or handling damage
  • Doors, side panels and latches operate correctly
  • Tyres and wheels match the order
  • Controls and fasteners are secure and accessible
04

Verify the matched electrical system

Confirm that battery, motor, controller and charger labels match the approved configuration. Review cable routing, connectors, insulation protection, battery restraint, fuse or protection arrangements and charging connection. The importer should confirm which battery transport and destination-market documents apply to the actual pack being shipped.

05

Run functional checks on representative units

Use an agreed test area and safe procedure to check starting, forward and reverse operation where fitted, steering, service and parking brakes, lights, indicators, horn, instruments and speed settings. Test tipping, lifting, doors or other fitted functions. If a load or route test is required, define the load, distance, slope, speed and pass criteria before inspection.

06

Check packing, loose parts and container readiness

Confirm how vehicles are protected, restrained and arranged for transport. Check packing dimensions, moisture and abrasion protection, loose accessories, chargers, mirrors, tools, spare parts, labels and packing lists. Photograph the packing sequence and final condition so the importer can compare it with the goods received.

07

Issue a report with a clear release decision

The report should identify the inspected order, sample size, checks performed, results, photo evidence and every deviation. Classify issues by the agreed acceptance rules, assign corrective actions and require reinspection evidence before release. Shipment approval should be written and linked to the final report.

BUYER QUESTIONS

When should an electric cargo tricycle pre-shipment inspection take place?

Inspect after the order is complete and the vehicles are ready for packing, while there is still enough time to correct and recheck any nonconformity before shipment.

Should every vehicle be inspected?

The inspection scope depends on order size, risk and the agreement with the supplier. Define the sampling plan, critical checks and acceptance criteria in writing before production is finished.

What should be checked on the charger and battery?

Confirm the approved battery and charger identifiers, rated labels, connector, destination voltage and plug, mounting, wiring protection and the documents required for the planned shipment and destination.

What happens if the inspection finds a problem?

Record the affected units and evidence, agree on containment and correction, and require a documented reinspection before release. Do not rely only on a verbal promise that the issue was fixed.
